Tibetan Youth Leadership Program 2013 in Brussels

From November 12 – 14, 2013, the International Campaign for Tibet (ICT) held its Tibetan Youth Leadership Program (TYLP) in Brussels. Ten Tibetan students living and/or studying in 5 different European countries (Denmark, Hungary, Poland, Switzerland and the United Kingdom) attended ICT’s training program for three days.

China on the defensive as 11 countries challenge its policies in Tibet

Eleven countries spoke up to urge China to improve the human rights of Tibetans at the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva on October 22. The delegates cited the lack of religious freedom, minority rights, and access of UN officials to Tibet, and called on China to resume dialogue with the Dalai Lama, during oral questioning at the second Universal Periodic Review (UPR) of China’s human rights record.

Proposals to display portraits of the Dalai Lama, end denunciation of the Tibetan leader, and lessen police presence in monasteries have been discussed at a series of meetings in Qinghai, according to several unofficial Tibetan sources. The news emerged following the publication of bold new suggestions of engagement with the Dalai Lama and critique of policy on Tibet by Professor Jin Wei from the Central Party School.
